Second day!

Today, it’s been our second day at Sønderskov-Skolen and we have had a more direct contact with the students thanks to a presentation that we have made to the fifth grade students explaining where we come from, how education works in Catalonia and how we work in our school and in our school library. The presentation was a bit of a disaster because we hadn't practised it enough and especially because it was too long for such young children, around 10 or 11 years old. But that has been also part of our learning process and, anyway, there have also been funny moments, such as when we have tried to make the students notice the differences between Catalan and Spanish language or when they have told us what time they go to sleep, around 9:00 p.m., and we have contrasted it with the time of going to bed (ad the time of having lunch and dinner) in Catalonia.

Besides this contact with students, we have learn how the school library works, not only the one in Sønderskov-Skolen, but also another one from a neighbour school. We’ve learnt that government supports school libraries giving them a large “data base” os books they can easily order and that are already catallogued. And the pther important thing is that all the classes in school has an especific time to go to the library: one of their lessons just consists of going to the library, choosing some book and read.
